Let us define the meaning of Remedial Massage, as it is something that is often asked –
Well, have a look at the word ‘remedial’; it has ‘remedy’ in it.
Therefore, Remedial Massage is focused on being a remedy for your ailments. That is why you come to us. If it is a muscular problem, we have the skills, knowledge and know-how to remedy your presenting ailments.
That is our focus. That is our passion. That is what brings us to be Massage Therapists.
A Remedial Therapist can focus solely on your presenting condition – the type of massage I like to refer to as real remedial. Or you may prefer an all-over massage, with a focus on general body aches. What is the difference? With a Remedial Massage your whole body may not be massaged. With the second type, we will still help you with your aches, but you will receive a whole body massage (1 hour is a good amount of time to allow for a whole body massage).
We will always utilize the modalities that we have in our personalized tool-kit of studies, to relieve your muscular troubles.
Your treatment may include techniques such as MET – Muscle Energy Technique, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, muscle fibre stripping, cross-fibre friction, and deep muscle manipulation. Other possible modalities our therapists may possess, would be Hawaiian/Kahuna massage, Lymphatic Drainage, sports massage, Reiki/energy healing, pregnancy massage, cranial balancing and cupping.
Your therapist may advise further self-care, – this is YOUR at-home ‘work’. This would be individalised to you.
